    May

    1. Thursday, May 23, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

      Our 2nd Cheese Chat!

      When: Thursday, May 23rd, 6-7pm

Join us for our second in a series of "Cheese Chats"

On Thursday, May 23d, join us for a discussion with Alan Schwarz, co-CEO of Alamo di Cortona (ADC), to learn about the artisanal Tuscan cheeses ADC imports and hear about the many regions in Tuscany where the cheeses are produced.

Alan will focus the discussion on the artisanal cheeses from award winning affaneur Andrea Magi, the regions in Tuscany where some of the best cheeses like Gorgonzola, Taleggio and Parmiggano Reggiano are produced, and the often asked question about eating or not eating the rind. He will also be sharing pairing ideas (not just wine) and samples will be available to enjoy.

Of course, as lovers of all things Italy, along the way Alan will share some places to visit and things to do when in Italy.

      Meet Your Host

Alan is the one-half of Alamo with Maureen, his wife, comprising the second one-half.

Alan grew up around food having worked as a teenager at his mother's cheese shop and catering service in the mid 1980's after arriving to the U.S. from Colombia, South America. After college and law school, he became a lawyer eventually moving into the corporate world which led to founding and running several trading and technology businesses on Wall Street. Now retired, he’s returned to one of his many passions - cheese and food!

Alan first traveled to Italy on his honeymoon in 1994. He and Maureen fell in love with the culture, the people, the food and the Italian way of life. In the following 29 years, they have traveled to countless regions, cities and small towns.

In 2018 they purchased an old stone farmhouse in one of their favorite Tuscan towns - Cortona (yes the town of the movie Under the Tuscan Sun) - and two years later added an olive grove that sits at the bottom of the hill of the town of Cortona.
